Note
An installation by artist Tomoko Sawada, who served as a juror in the Art and Children’s division for the 2021 Kyoto International Film and Art Festival Creator’s Factory.
“When I heard that the theme was Phenomena, and Beyond, I thought about the concept of change. I had the idea of using the beautiful lights in the Hall of Light to conjure up various things. The idea is that it reveals both the good and the bad. While bright light will naturally create dark shadows, they don’t fall on a single side.If we think of diversity as only drawing minute distinctions between our differences, won’t we continue to be divided? Even when everything is changing, what is important remains the same, right? In this world, what came before may come again, what is in the background may come to the forefront, and commonly held beliefs can be challenged. Please come and experience the Ripples installation and the Facial Signature Series space, which has been modified and reconstructed for the festival."
